The Police Command in Lagos State in collaboration with a local vigilante group, has detained two suspected armed robbers during a patrol operation at Odogunyan in Ikorodu area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to Adebisi, the suspects, whose ages are 29 and 32, were intercepted during a crime prevention patrol and had attempted to flee on sighting the security operatives.

She said that the suspects were swiftly apprehended, and a search of the handbag they were carrying led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size dane gun and three live cartridges.

The spokesperson said the suspects were in police custody assisting investigators, adding that they would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

She said that the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Fatai Tijani, lauded the operatives for their swift response.

“CP Tijani commended the officers and members of the local vigilante group for their vigilance and collaboration, which led to the successful operation.

“The CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law,” she said.
