The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a cult group in connection with an alleged attempted murder following a violent cult clash at a hotel in Ikere-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere Local Government Area.

The Incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 1, 2026, reportedly left one suspected cult member with severe injuries after a meeting of the group degenerated into a bloody confrontation.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, the suspected cultists had converged at the hotel for what was described as a meeting when an argument reportedly escalated into a physical fight among the members.

“One of the suspected members, popularly known as “Sucrose,” sustained serious bodily injuries during the clash and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

“Acting swiftly on intelligence, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), working in collaboration with surveillance personnel from the Ilupeju Police Division, stormed the scene and arrested six suspects.

“The suspects were identified as Owolabi Oluwapelumi, 28; David Adeleke, 28; Oluwatoba Alo, 30; Olamilekan Junior, 27; Segun Bidemi, 29; and Emmanuel Oladele, 27.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly admitted to being members of the Alora Secret Cult Confraternity.

“During the operation, security operatives recovered several exhibits believed to be linked to the group, including a Toyota Camry car, two face caps bearing the Alora logo, three plastic cups branded with the Alora insignia, a blood-stained shirt, a pair of scissors, a yellow-coloured hand band, and a key holder carrying the group’s logo,” he said.

The command disclosed that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected members who fled the scene during the operation.

The PPRO revealed that the hotel is under investigation for allegedly allowing its premises to be used for suspected secret cult activities.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Michael Falade, directed that the investigation be intensified to ensure all those connected with the incident are brought to justice.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that the command would continue to deploy proactive policing strategies to safeguard lives and property across the state.

He also appealed to members of the public to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information that could lead to the arrest of fleeing suspects and other criminal elements, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to sustaining peace and security in Ekiti State.
