The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The approval is part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and comes weeks after the commissioning and flag-off of more than 30 projects across the FCT between June 8 and July 17 to commemorate the milestone.

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development on Wednesday, describing the promotion as another demonstration of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.

Ezeh said promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior officers wrote theirs on July 10.

He commended Wike for providing the support that enabled the commission to successfully discharge its statutory responsibilities

.According to him, the minister has also directed the commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due.

He said: “Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory. The workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President.”

Ezeh said the directive underscores the administration’s resolve to match the ongoing infrastructure transformation of the nation’s capital with improved staff welfare and career progression.

He added that the decision would ensure civil servants also benefit from the gains of the Tinubu administration as it marks its third year in office.

The commission chairman praised FCT workers for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to sustain the same level of discipline and professionalism.

He also commended the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation, describing its support as instrumental to the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Ezeh advised prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotion in the FCT Civil Service remains merit-driven, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies. (The Nation)
