A foremost financial technology company, OPay, is targeting one billion users by 2031 as it strives to make financial services more inclusive in Nigeria and other countries where it operates.
With footprint across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, as well as other emerging markets in Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia, the fintech company said it is positioning to expand its footprints to other countries while strengthening its current markets.
This emerged yesterday at the media parley organised by the firm in Lagos which showcased the achievements of the company in deepening financial inclusion and expanding access to commercial services.
Chief Commercial Officer for OPay, Elizabeth Wang said the platform had recorded tremendous growth since 2018 when it started operation, attributing the growth to the trust and satisfaction of the customers with the services offered by the bank.
“We have grown so fast in Nigeria here. We are not just the most popular financial app, we are more popular than some social media platforms. OPay Nigeria, we are the third most popular app in the country,” she said.
She explained that the OPay’s philosophy from inception remains to go into the market and find out the needs of the customers while providing bespoke services that meet those needs and desires.
According to her, OPay leveraged on the gaps in the financial ecosystem and worked hard to bridge those gaps while providing affordable, customer-centric financial services to the consumers.
She added that what distinguished OPay from its peers is the security features which she described as top-notch, adding that the security features give the users of OPay rest of mind on their savings.
Also speaking, the Chief Technology Officer, Dotun Adekunle said, “Because we are obsessed with customers’ satisfaction, we are always solving the problems being encountered by customers. We listen to their fears, frictions and the pain points that people have.”
He highlighted some of the security features of the OPay, saying the biggest among them is the OPay night guard which provides additional safety feature for the users.
Others listed included the emergency lock, large transaction shield, anti-scam shield, among others.
Adekunle further stated that OPay is always 99.9 per cent available as the system is powered by over 1000 application programming interfaces (APIs), adding, “When a system breaks down, another one picks up automatically so that you don’t feel anything. If OPay is ever down, it is less than one hour in a whole year.” (Weekend Trust)
