The Katsina State Government has approved the commencement of monthly security meetings involving traditional rulers across the state as part of measures to strengthen intelligence gathering and tackle insecurity at the grassroots.

The decision was reached on Wednesday during the 11th Regular Meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council (SEC) for 2026, presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda at the Government House, Katsina.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Special Adviser on Local Government and Inspectorate, Lawal Rufai Safana, said the monthly meetings would involve traditional rulers at the ward, village, district, local government and state levels.

According to him, the initiative is designed to provide a structured platform for intelligence gathering, early reporting of security threats and closer collaboration among communities, traditional institutions, security agencies and government.

He expressed confidence that the arrangement would enhance community participation in security management and improve the state’s response to emerging threats.

Similarly, the state’s executive council also approved the payment of over N500 million as compensation to owners of lands, farmlands, economic trees and other properties affected by the Modoji/Bakuru Federal Housing Project in Katsina. (Daily Trust)
