The Anambra State Police Command has debunked rumours making its round on social media alleging that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush located at the boundary between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu, both in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

The Command in statement made available to journalists in Awka by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the Command immediately deployed operatives to the area for verification and assessment.

The statement reads in part: "So far, findings revealed that the alleged location remains calm, with no suspicious objects or any security concerns observed.

"Normal activities continue within and around the area, while security operatives maintain routine surveillance to ensure public safety and sustain public confidence.

"The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has urged members of the public to disregard the false alarm and desist from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and undermining public confidence in the security architecture of the State".

The CP however reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders in maintaining peace and security across Anambra State.

He further encouraged residents to verify security-related information through official channels and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or other security formations.
