Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan
The Delta State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead, describing the information as false and misleading.
Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, said he verified the claim with members of the former governor’s family after receiving several inquiries from concerned members of the public.
According to him, he contacted Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that the former governor is alive and in good condition.
“I spoke directly with his daughter Orode Uduaghan on phone, and she confirmed that the news is false. Dr Uduaghan is alive,” Ossai stated.
He expressed disappointment over the circulation of what he described as unverified and misleading reports, warning that false information about an individual’s death could cause unnecessary distress to family members, friends and supporters.
“I am disappointed at those who spread such false information without verification,” he said.
The media aide described the dissemination of fake death reports as irresponsible and harmful, noting that such claims create anxiety and emotional pain for loved ones and the wider public.
“Spreading fake news about someone’s death is cruel, irresponsible, and causes unnecessary pain to the family and millions of Deltans who hold him in high regard,” he added.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumour and refrain from sharing information that has not been properly verified through credible sources.
“I urge the public to disregard the rumor and avoid sharing unverified information. Let us show respect for life and for our leaders,” he said.
Reaffirming the position of the family, Ossai stated that the former governor remains alive and well.
“Dr. Uduaghan is fine and not dead,” he said.
The clarification comes amid widespread circulation of the false report on social media platforms, prompting concerns among residents and political associates of the former Delta State governor. (Arise News)
