The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mazi Ejimofor Opara, has labelled persons rushing to crown themselves winners of the party’s state and national assembly primaries on social media as desperado, saying that the party’s constitutional processes are still ongoing.
Opara who stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Monday said that the party made it clear that primary elections are not decided on Facebook posts, WhatsApp broadcasts, sponsored propaganda, or premature celebrations.
Accordong to him. the party’s internal electoral mechanisms remain the only legitimate authority empowered to determine authentic results.
He said: "Election outcomes are governed by rules, verification, and due process, not noise from over excited supporters trying to manipulate public perception. "
He referenced Article 21 of APGA’s 2026 Primary Election Procedures, which empowers the Electoral Panel Chairman to cancel questionable declarations and rely strictly on verified ward results where discrepancies exist.
"This clarification is a direct response to those already parading themselves as winners despite unresolved issues surrounding the collation process.
"Only APGA can validate and authenticate the credibility of any primary election result after thorough verification.
The statement further warned aspirants and their supporters against using social media pressure, emotional blackmail, or propaganda to force legitimacy on questionable claims, insisting that grievances must pass through established internal channels, not through online theatrics designed to mislead the public.
Political observers have described the development as one that has effectively punctured the premature victory narratives being circulated by certain camps desperate to create false momentum before the party concludes its lawful process.
The party, however, reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and unity, noting that APGA remains one family where due process, not media hype, determines victory.
