US President Trump and son Donald Trump Jr
United States President, Donald Trump, has explained why he will not be able to attend his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding.
The ceremony, which is reportedly scheduled to take place in the Bahamas this weekend, is expected to be an intimate family event involving Trump Jr. and his fiancée, Bettina Anderson.
Ahead of the wedding, Trump indicated through a Truth Social post that although he would have preferred to be present, he must remain at the White House due to government duties and what he described as a critical period requiring his attention to national affairs.
He also extended congratulations to the couple.
He wrote: “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so. I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
Trump had earlier told reporters that he was considering attending the ceremony but noted that the timing was unfavourable, citing heightened international tensions linked to the Iran conflict. (Adapted from a Nigerian Tribune report)
