The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, and relieved the Vice-Chancellor and the two Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) of their appointments.
The Secretary to the Kebbi State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
Tafida explained that this follows the State Executive Council’s (SEC) consideration of the recommendations of the visitation panel report regarding the institution.
According to him: “On the recommendation of the Visitation Panel constituted by the Kebbi State Government, the State Executive Council has approved the dissolution of the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero.
“The Vice-Chancellor and the two Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) have been relieved of their appointments.
“The Registrar and Bursar of the institution have also been removed, while the appointment of one Abba Muhammad Adua has also been terminated,” the SSG said.
He stated that Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed as the Sole Administrator of the university with the responsibility of stabilising governance.
Tafida added that the Sole Administrator was also tasked with restoring academic integrity pending the reconstitution of a new governing council that will usher in the appointment of new principal officers for the university.
The SSG said the decision took effect from yesterday, 30 April 2026.
He commended the members of the visitation panel for conducting a thorough investigation that provided the State Executive Council with a clear path forward. (This Day)
