Bashir El-Rufai, son of embattled former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed support for a Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket in 2027.
The younger El-Rufai made his stance known in an X post on Wednesday.
Although he did not expressly name the candidates, he said an “O.K” presidential ticket would help salvage the country from its present quagmire.
Analysts say “O” represents Obi while “K” stands for Kwankwaso.
Like Bashir’s father, both men are chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Obi vied for the 2023 presidency under the Labour Party (LP) and was third in the polls while Kwankwaso claimed the fourth position with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
There has been clamour among their supporters especially on social media for the ADC to field both men as their presidential and vice presidential candidates with the order still up for debates.
El-Rufai tipped Obi to run as president in 2027, saying his victory would help Southern Nigeria complete its eight-year presidency before power switches to the North in 2031.
He said, “Just in case there’s any ambiguity let me state clearly I personally am for an O.K Presidential ticket.
“That alliance, forged with back door dealings & clear cut responsibilities will go a long way in salvaging the country from this current quagmire.
“At 2031, whichsoever Northernern aspirant feels the compulsion to run, that path would be clear. Let the South complete their remaining 4 years.
“This is my calculus, feel free to disagree.” (The Sun)
