A suspected robber has died following a violent confrontation with a security guard during a midnight break-in at a tertiary institution in Kogi State.
Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on April 26 at Nana College of Nursing and Medical Sciences, Okpo, in Olamaboro Local Government Area.
The sources said the suspect forcibly gained entry into the school premises and broke into a security office, where he attacked the guard on duty, identified as Daniel Otodo.
According to the sources, both men engaged in a physical struggle during the attack, resulting in injuries sustained by the suspect, who was later found outside the office in a weakened condition.
The guard also sustained injuries during the confrontation and is currently receiving medical attention.
Security operatives who visited the scene observed that the security door had been forced open, with office items scattered and blood stains visible around the security post.
The sources said the suspect was later confirmed dead at Iko Ojo Hospital in Okpo, where his body was deposited for autopsy.
