The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has commenced recruitment to fill five directorship positions, including Estate and Municipal Services, Physical Planning and Development, University Health Services, Procurement, and Security.
In a notice dated 23rd April 2026 and signed by Ahmadu Shehu, Registrar and Secretary of Council, the university stated that “applications from suitably qualified candidates” are required for the roles, outlining responsibilities and requirements across the positions.
The statement added that each successful candidate will serve a single non-renewable term of five years, subject to conditions approved by the federal government of Nigeria and the governing council.
The university urged the qualified candidates to submit fifteen (15) word-processed applications and fifteen (15) copies of a detailed curriculum vitae with copies of credentials to the Registrar, stating that the curriculum vitae must include personal details, academic and professional qualifications, work experience, publications, honours, extra-curricular activities, and names and addresses of three referees.
It added that applications should be sent in an envelope with the position applied for clearly indicated, while referees are to forward confidential reports directed to the Registrar.
While noting that applicants must “not be over fifty-nine (59) years old on assumption of duty”, the notice further stated that applications must reach the Registrar, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, not later than six weeks from the date of publication.
Director of Estate & Municipal Services
The notice explained that the applicants for the position are required to have “at least a second-class honours lower division degree in Estate Management and Valuation, Urban & Regional Planning, Town Planning, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, and Building or a related field, plus NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
“A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant field, with at least four years in a senior management position in a tertiary academic institution. ICT proficiency. Proven experience in managing physical infrastructure in a tertiary institution. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Registration with regulatory bodies (e.g., ARCON CORBON, COREN, QSRVN, TOPREC) [and] Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.”
Director of Physical Planning And Development
This position requires the Director to be answerable to the Vice Chancellor for the overall planning and development of the university’s physical infrastructure, including buildings, roads, parks, gardens, and utilities.
Additionally, the director will provide strategic leadership and direction for the Physical Planning Directorate.
Director of University’s Health Services
This role requires applicants to possess an “MBBS + NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Evidence of current registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). Professional certification in Medicine (e.g., FWACP, FMCP, FRCP). A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience in medical practice with at least four 4 years satisfactory service as Chief Medical Officer. ICT proficiency.”
Also, the applicants are expected to have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. And the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Director of Procurement
According to the notice, the Director of Procurement must possess the following qualifications and experience: “A minimum of a second-class lower honours degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Educational Administration and Planning, Accounting, Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain Management, and Procurement or a related field plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.”
The applicants must also have at least 12 years of post-qualification experience in procurement, with at least four 4 years in a senior management position, proficiency certification on procurement from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP). iv. Strong understanding of the Public Procurement Act 2007 (as amended) and other relevant procurement regulations, Excellent in leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and ICT proficiency.
Director of Security
The Director Security shall possess a minimum of a second-class lower honours degree in “Crime Management, Security management, Prevention and Control, Law, Sociology, Social Policy and Administration plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
The university also expects applicants to possess at least 12 years of post-qualification experience in Security Management with four 4 years in a Senior Management position; or shall be an Ex-serviceman with an impeccable service record from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or equivalent in the Armed Forces, Department of State Service (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
