Kwara State House of Representatives member, Dr Adamu Ahmed Saba
Suspected gunmen, on Tuesday attacked the member representing Edu/ Moro/ Patigi federal constituency in the National Assembly, Dr. Ahmed Adam Saba.
The legislator, who confirmed the attack to newsmen in Ilorin said he escaped by a whisker.
He has, however, urged the Nigerian Police Force to probe the attack that almost claimed his life.
He urged the law enforcers not to only probe the attack, “but to also bring both the sponsors and perpetrators to book as a deterrent to others.”
Decrying what he described as a sponsored attack, Saba vowed that the attack won’t deter him from serving his people.
Saba, in a subsequent statement issued in ilorin, said the attack was at Tsaragi in Edu local government area of Kwara State, when leaving a social function.
He wondered why political enemies could be so daring and desperate to sponsor an attack on his life, describing it as “unnecessary.”
He challenged anyone that has anything to offer the people to desist from descending low and crude to be sending thugs after people in a bid to intimidate them.
Saba, who said that there’s enough space for everyone to campaign and aspire for any position, added that: “it’s the almighty Allah that giveth human beings power.”
He added that sending political thugs to attack him won’t deter his unflinching desire to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to people of his constituency.
“Nobody can intimidate me by any mean possible, I’m not a pushover in politics, whoever is thinking along that direction should forget it,” he said.
The lawmaker also said his life is in the safe hands of almighty Allah, and that nobody can take it except it’s the wish of almighty Allah.
