The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of Goodluck Ejimiyare for recruiting young boys into a cybercrime training ring popularly known as a “Yahoo school.”

Ejimiyare was sentenced on Monday, 20 April 2026, by Justice C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Benin City, following his guilty plea to a single-count amended charge of conspiracy to commit internet fraud.

According to the EFCC, the convict worked with an accomplice, Ebuka Henry Eze, who is currently at large, to recruit youths into the operation identified as “Hustling Kingdom.”

The charge stated that Ejimiyare conspired in 2025 to commit computer-related fraud, an offence under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2024).

After pleading guilty when the charge was read on 30 March 2026, prosecution counsel Elodi Immaculate urged the court to convict him, leading to his sentencing on 20 April.

Justice Obiozor handed down a five-year prison sentence, with an option of a N1 million fine.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of his mobile phone and directed him to sign an undertaking to maintain good behaviour.

According to EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale, the case stemmed from a crackdown by the Nigerian Army’s 4 Brigade Headquarters, which arrested 17 youths at the suspected cybercrime training centre and handed them over to the EFCC.

Investigations revealed that many of the boys were recruited into the scheme by Ejimiyare, Oyewale said. (The Sun)
