Edo State Security Corps operative
In a dramatic turn of event, a kidnapped member of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), Yusuf Kazim, has escaped from the den of his abductors after a fierce confrontation, during which he sustained injuries.
Besides his escape, Kazim also rescued two other victims held in captivity even as the abductors escaped, abandoning their weapons.
It was further gathered that the local security operative, during the life-threatening encounter, disarmed the abductors of their AK-47 assault rifle.
Kazim, who operates in Edo North Senatorial District, was said to have been ambushed while driving into his residence at Aya-Iyamo in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen abducted him at gunpoint and whisked him into a nearby forest.
While in captivity, he reportedly encountered two other victims: Caleb Yusuf, 25, and Himach Suleiman, who had been held after their families failed to meet ransom demands.
In a dramatic turn of events, Kazim was said to have engaged the kidnappers in a struggle and disarmed them with an AK-47 assault rifle.
His assailants were said to have fled the scene, abandoning their weapons, but not without inflicting deadly injuries on him.
Kazim, however, escaped from the abductors’ den, taking along with him the two other victims.
The Deputy Corps Commander of the ESSC, Richard Balogun, while confirming the incident, commended Kazim’s bravery and resilience, adding that “he is in critical condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.”
Balogun prayed for his speedy recovery, noting that the kidnappers inflicted serious injuries on him before fleeing.
He added that the case had been handed over to the police for further investigation, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects. (Nigerian Tribune)
