Jesus embracing Trump in the image posted by the US Presdient
United States President, Donald Trump, on Wednesday
shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image depicting Jesus embracing him in front of an American flag.
“The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, alongside a screenshot of another user’s post containing the image.
The post is the latest in a series of religious-themed social media activity by Trump, who has continued to criticise Pope Leo XIV after sharing a now-deleted post that depicted him as Jesus Christ — a characterisation he rejected on Monday.
Trump also shared a post cataloguing old social media activity from the pope’s personal account, maintained before his election to the papacy when he was Cardinal Robert Prevost. The shared post alleged the pope had been critical of Trump and Vice President JD Vance, supported open borders, promoted COVID vaccines, endorsed gun control measures, and posted following the death of George Floyd.
“It’s fascinating to see what social media reveals about a person before they become the Pope,” the shared post read. “Before he became Pope Leo XIV, Cardinal Robert Prevost was on Twitter trashing Trump, criticizing Vance, calling for open borders, promoting COVID vaccines, endorsing stricter gun control, and tweeting after George Floyd.”
“Not good!!!” Trump wrote.
Vice President Vance also weighed in on the pope on Tuesday, speaking at a conservative youth conference in Athens, Georgia.
“If you’re going to opine on matters of theology, you’ve got to be careful, you’ve got to be sure it’s anchored in the truth and that’s one of the things that I try to do and that’s certainly something I would expect from the clergy,” said Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019.
Vance had earlier told the gathering that the pontiff should “be careful when he talks about matters of theology.” (ABC News)
