A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been shot dead in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State following a dispute involving a repentant Boko Haram member.
Security sources said the incident occurred on April 3 at about 10:16 a.m. when an argument broke out between the two men in Mafa town.
It was gathered that the suspect, identified as Abba Gana, 20, a repentant Boko Haram member working under the CJTF structure, allegedly shot the victim, Adamu Ali, 25, in the chest with an AK-47 rifle during the altercation.
The victim was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Mafa, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The suspect was reportedly arrested and handed over to the police by the CJTF commander in Mafa Local Government Area, Abba Sadu.
Security sources said the scene was visited and photographed, while the weapon used in the incident was recovered as exhibit.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Maiduguri, has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. (Zagazola)
