President Tinubu
By BONIFACE AKARAH
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united and resilient amid ongoing economic and security challenges, as Christians across the country celebrate Easter.
In his 2026 Easter message issued Friday by the State House, the President said the season symbolises sacrifice, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness, urging citizens to reflect these values in national life.
“To Christians in Nigeria and around the world, the Easter season reminds us of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the redemptive power of salvation,” he said.
Tinubu acknowledged that the country continues to face security concerns despite efforts by the Armed Forces and government interventions.
“Challenges to our security have remained. However, my administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to enable us to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry,” he stated.
The President referenced his recent visit to Jos, where he commiserated with victims of recent violence, expressing optimism that security agencies are making progress.
“The leaders of the nation’s security institutions have given strong assurances of progress. We have also sought and are receiving assistance from outside our shores,” he added.
On the economy, Tinubu said ongoing reforms, though challenging, are aimed at achieving long-term prosperity.
“The ongoing reforms… have been carefully put together and backed by a strong commitment to take us to a shared prosperity,” he said, noting that economic indicators suggest the country is on the right path.
He urged Nigerians to support government efforts and remain law-abiding, stressing the importance of peace and unity.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” the President said.
As the country approaches another electoral cycle, Tinubu also called for responsible political conduct in line with the law.
“The Electoral Act must guide the conduct of our political parties and political actors… Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” he stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to governance, the President urged citizens to remain hopeful.
“A new dawn is on the horizon… I will continue to serve to retain your trust,” he said, wishing Nigerians a peaceful Easter celebration.
