The arrested suspected terrorists
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested two suspected terrorists in Digare Village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State.
Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 7:30 p.m. on March 22 during an operation based on actionable intelligence.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in terrorist activities and possible links to other criminal networks.
Military said efforts were being intensified to sustain operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action in the area.
In a related development, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during an offensive operation in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 2:10 p.m. on March 23 to clear terrorist enclaves around Tangaza.
The troops, in an ambush position at Magonho Forest opposite Kadida junction, made contact with the terrorists, neutralising one of them and recovering two AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle and rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
However, a few hours after the ambush, the terrorists regrouped and attacked Kadida Village, accusing residents of collaborating with troops.
Troops subsequently launched a fighting patrol to the village, where they engaged the assailants, neutralised another terrorist and recovered an additional AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.
Despite the swift response, one civilian was killed during the attack, while two others sustained injuries. Troops administered first aid to the injured and evacuated them for medical attention.
Troops said operations are ongoing to sustain pressure on the terrorists and prevent further attacks in the area. (Pieced together from Zagazola reports)
