Imo State Police spokesman, Henry Okoye
The serene streets of Owerri were jolted by a brutal crime last Sunday, as 24-year-old Daniel Anyanwu, a dedicated POS operator, lost his life to heartless thugs.
The incident, which occurred near Everyday Supermarket on World Bank Road, has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in grief and outrage.
Eyewitnesses said Daniel was attacked by armed robbers who made off with his money bag after he resisted their demands. Despite being rushed to Vaden Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a devastated family and a community in mourning.
The victim’s father, Mr. Emmanuel Anyanwu, is grappling with the loss of his only son, while the community struggles to come to terms with the senseless violence. Daniel’s untimely demise has sparked concerns about security in Owerri, with residents calling on authorities to take concrete steps to curb the rising tide of crime.
His father, Mr. Anyanwu, said he had hoped his only son would lift them to grace, but was now totally helpless.
“May God be with my son wherever he may be. The wish of every father is to have his son succeed him, but who will succeed me now. I beg the authorities to help me unravel the killers of my son”, he lamented.
Following his death, the Imo State Police Command has been urged to step up efforts to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice. As the community bids farewell to a promising young life, the cry for justice grows louder. (The Sun)
