President Tinubu exchanging pleasantries with France President Macron in file photo
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that Nigeria is set to receive military support from Emmanuel Macron following fresh security talks between both leaders.
Speaking in Lagos after a meeting with state governors, Tinubu said discussions with France centred on providing equipment and training to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
He stressed that his administration is exploring all available partnerships to tackle rising insecurity across the country.
The president described insecurity as the next major hurdle for his government, warning that it continues to threaten development and economic progress.
He added that Nigeria is willing to leverage existing diplomatic ties and credit lines to secure the needed military assets.
Tinubu also linked the ongoing Middle East crisis to potential economic pressure at home, noting that rising global tensions could worsen inflation and reduce Nigerians’ purchasing power, especially through higher fuel and transport costs.
Reaffirming his stance, the president said defeating terrorism remains a top priority, assuring that more investment in technology, logistics, and international collaboration will be deployed to restore security nationwide. (The Sun)
