A scene of mayhem unfolded in Owerri, the Imo State capital, yesterday, Saturday, March 14, 2026, as a crowd scrambled for empowerment gifts meant for selected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at an event organised by President Ahmed Tinubu’s support group, City Boys Movement.

A report this morning by Sunday Sun quoted eyewitnesses as reporting that, despite a heavy security presence, the crowd overwhelmed the distribution point, disregarded the list of beneficiaries, and made off with items including bags of rice, sewing machines, and minibuses.

"The incident caused disappointment among the dignitaries present, including Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, who attended the event," the report said.
