The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for student loan applications for the 2025/2026 academic session from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026, to give prospective applicants more time to complete their submissions.
In a notice signed by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND emphasized that the extension was intended to ensure that eligible students are not left out of the scheme due to timing challenges during the application process.
Speaking on the decision, the Managing Director/CE of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, said the move was in line with the Fund’s commitment to access and fairness.
“This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund,” he said.
The Fund encouraged students who have not yet applied or are still completing their applications to take advantage of the extended window and ensure that all required details are submitted on or before February 27, 2026.
NELFUND also stated that further updates would be communicated through its official channels and encouraged applicants to rely on verified platforms for information, adding that for inquiries, applicants should contact NELFUND via its Gmail or through its official social media handles.
