APC National Chairman, Prof Yilwatda
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a historic political milestone with the formal reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State into the party, a development that underscores the APC’s growing national strength and its unifying appeal across political divides.
Speaking on the occasion, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the moment as a clear demonstration of the party’s enduring philosophy of unity, inclusion, and purposeful governance.
He noted that Mutfwang’s decision represents far more than a political realignment, but a collective movement towards peace, stability, and progress in Plateau State.
Prof. Yilwatda revealed that with this development, political structures and key actors from other parties in Plateau State have collapsed into the APC, effectively positioning the party as the dominant and most credible political platform in the state.
“Today, my joy knows no bounds. This convergence reflects the confidence of the people in the APC as a party of unity and action. Plateau State is now firmly on the path of political stability and collective purpose,” the Chairman stated.
He emphasised that the APC’s objective is not intimidation or exclusion, but responsible leadership anchored on unity and development.
“Our coming together is not driven by sentiment. It is about moving Plateau State in the right direction. Unity brings peace, and peace is the foundation of development. With this renewed unity, peace will permeate every community across Plateau State,” he said.
The APC National Chairman stressed that the party’s strength lies in its ability to unite people beyond political, ethnic, and religious differences.
“Today, we are united as a people, united as citizens, united in equality, and united in brotherhood. This is the time for unity, peace, progress, and justice in Plateau State.”
Using the APC broom as a powerful symbol of cohesion, Prof. Yilwatda explained that it represents the party’s determination to sweep away division, disunity, and political fragmentation, and to build a shared future for all Plateau citizens.
At the national level, the Chairman highlighted the steady expansion of the APC, noting that the party currently governs 29 states, with prospects of further growth.
He attributed this progress to the effective and courageous leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a tested reformer committed to economic stability and national development.
“Before President Tinubu assumed office, nearly 30 states were struggling with unpaid salaries. Today, states are meeting their salary obligations, and there is renewed capacity for infrastructure development across the federation,” he said.
Prof. Yilwatda assured Governor Mutfwang of the APC’s full support, expressing confidence that the Governor would secure a second term based on performance, unity, and popular support.
"The APC will stand firmly with Governor Caleb Mutfwang. With our collective strength and the support of the people, we are confident that he will be returned to the Government House for a second term,” he said.
Yilwatda called on remaining political stakeholders and citizens in Plateau State to embrace APC, describing the party as the true platform of opportunity, inclusion, and sustainable development.
“I invite those who are still in the minority to join the majority. Come to the party that offers life, opportunity, and a shared future. Together, we will build a peaceful, united, and prosperous Plateau State,” he said.
