The Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has expressed concern over the indiscriminate establishment and operation of unregistered private higher institutions across the state.
In a statement issued by the Director of Higher Education in the ministry, proprietors of such institutions were warned about the grave implications of their actions on the education sector.
The statement noted that many of the institutions fail to meet minimum required standards, particularly in the areas of qualified manpower and adequate infrastructure, thereby undermining the quality and integrity of education in the state.
The ministry stressed that the establishment and operation of any private higher institution without due registration and accreditation is a violation of existing regulations and will not be tolerated.
“In view of the above, the management of all unregistered private higher institutions is hereby directed to present themselves at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, JB Yakubu Secretariat, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., from Monday to Thursday, for documentation, validation, and further necessary action,” the statement said.
“The Ministry reassures the general public of its commitment to ensuring standardisation, quality assurance, and effective service delivery in the education sector, and calls on all stakeholders to cooperate in achieving these objectives,” it added. (The Guardian)
