Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, NNPP Chieftain
The national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned party members contemplating defection that political betrayal has never produced lasting success.
Speaking to supporters at his residence in Kano, Kwankwaso reacted to reports that some NNPP members, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, were considering leaving the party.
In a viral video from the gathering, the former Kano governor said the development did not surprise him, insisting that history offers clear lessons for those choosing to abandon the party.
“What I am seeing is even beyond what I expected because I am aware that few, very few of you have decided to cross to the other side. Don’t worry, whoever knows them should advise them,” Kwankwaso said.
He warned that those who betray the party often face political setbacks.
“I want to remind those who left us that nobody has betrayed us and succeeded,” he added.
Kwankwaso also pointed to the large turnout of supporters at the meeting as evidence that the NNPP retains strong grassroots backing across Kano State, despite moves by some political figures to align elsewhere.
“I’m very glad with the turnout today because I didn’t expect to see so many faces here. I thought they would follow the governor’s camp,” he said.
He stressed that the strength of the NNPP lies in its loyal base rather than the actions of a few defectors, urging supporters to remain steadfast and focused on the party’s ideals. (AriseNews TV)
