US President Trump

Some Nigerians in New York, in the United States, have called on the Federal Government to address the “concern” raised by the U.S. President, Donald Trump, over alleged “religious persecution” and killing of Christians in the country.
According to them, insecurity and killings in the country have been a source of concern to Nigerians living abroad, not only to Trump and other members of the international community.
Agnes Omotoso, a Nigerian who has lived in the U.S. for 37 years, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York that the Federal Government should address the killings.
She, however, expressed sadness over the high level of insecurity and killings in the country.
Omotoso said although she had never been a fan of Trump, there was need to “investigate and address the issues he has raised.”
“This is a concern not only for me and other Nigerians here but also U.S. citizens generally.
“The Nigerian government should address the issue which has become a concern to us all, not the person making the accusations,’’ she said.
Also reacting, Martins Obor, who works in the security sector in the U.S., said the issue of insecurity has been a source of concern, noting that the Federal Government should address the issue raised by the U.S President.
“I’m not happy about the news of killings back at home.
“The government should live up to the expectations of Nigerians by protecting their lives,’’ he said.
Obor added that the government should show to the world what it is doing to address the killings and crime in the country generally, before it leads to the imposition of sanctions on the country.
“It’s sad to read stories about people who have been killed because of gold necklace.
“I heard about a particular woman who some criminals killed over a gold necklace. So sad!
Another Nigerian living in New York, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the killings had been a source of worry and concern.
“I see the U.S. citizens who are not even Nigerian praying for an end to the killings in our country. So, it is an issue that needs to be addressed,” she said. (NAN)
