A violent clash has erupted in Rubina Ward, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi, following a dispute over the relocation of a traditional title from one village to another.
The unrest reportedly broke out on Saturday night, October 25, 2025, after news spread that plans were underway to move the title of the Village Head of Rubina Ward from Garin Koginsallah to another village.
Angered by the development, youths in the area embarked on a violent protest, during which they set ablaze the house of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Rubina Ward.
Witnesses told our correspondent via telephone that the protesters vowed to take further action if the authorities failed to maintain the status quo regarding the traditional leadership position.
Some residents appealed to the state government and relevant stakeholders to intervene swiftly and ensure peace is restored to the community.
They also called on the aggrieved parties to remember Bauchi State’s reputation as a peaceful state and to avoid any actions that could disrupt public order.
Efforts to obtain comments from the Bauchi Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) did not respond to calls, text messages, or WhatsApp inquiries as of the time of filing this report. (Tribune)
