Law officers embark on 3-day warning strike in Kwara

Law officers in government employment in Kwara have commenced a three-day warning strike to press home their demands for payment of outstanding 50 per cent of their 2020 furniture allowance.

Other demands included: payment of wardrobe allowance, implementation of salaries of state counsel and magistrates in line with the 2025 harmonization approval, periodic professional trainings among others.

A statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Ilorin, by the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kwara State chapter said that the officers took the decision at an emergency meeting after the lapse of a 14-day ultimatum notice on Oct. 24.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the statement was signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Mrs Medinat Abedisi and Ms Tolulope Oniyide, respectively.

NAN recalls that the association had on Oct. 11 issued a 14-day notice to embark on a 3-day warning strike, if their demands were not met.

According to the association, the state government had remained indifferent to its demands in spite of the work load and hazards associated with confronting criminals, prosecution of tax defaulters to recover tax liabilities, tackling gender- based violence, among others.

”The state government has not responded to our notice of strike and our demands has not been met, based on our requests as highlighted in the 14-days ultimatum letter

”Due to the inaction of government to our requests, members of the Association have resolved to embark on a 3-day warning strike, commencing on Oct. 27, 2025,” it said. (NAN)
