Murdered Nurse Hadiza Musa
A nurse at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar gayan, Zaria has been killed by assailants who tried to snatch her mobile phone.
The victim identified as Hadiza Musa was the Deputy Head, Maternity unit of the hospital.
Confirming the incident, her husband, Hamza Ibrahim Idris, who works in Abuja, said the deceased was killed while returning from work, on Saturday.
“On Saturday, she called to tell me that she was going to the saloon to make her hair and also visit an Islamic chemist in Filin Mallawa, Tudun wada Zaria and I obliged.”
“After transferring some money to her, our last call was when she left the chemist around 6pm. And from then, I couldn’t get her on the line again.
“I continued to call her line till the following morning when I concluded that her phone had ran down.”
Idris, who regained consciousness on Tuesday after the shock which trailed the incident, explained that he later found out that the deceased rode on commercial motorcycle around 6.30pm on Saturday on her way home, but was later attacked by some people who attempted to snatch her mobile phone.
“There were signs that her hands were squeezed, indicating someone forced her hands while trying to snatch the phone.
“They also hit her hard on the head, because she bled on the head, which to my assumption led to her death.”
Idris said after slipped into coma, they snatched the phone and dropped her by the roadside along Mallawa Eid ground in tudun wada Zaria.
He said a good Samaritan who found her rushed her to a clinic and was thereafter referred to ABU Teaching Hospital, Shika, where she was confirmed dead
The husband said late Hadiza died three months after the demise of her sister whose three children were adopted by her.
“She now left behind three of her children and the three adopted children.”
Also commenting, Abdulkadir Balele Wali, the Hospital Secretary, said Hadiza was the Deputy Head of Maternity unit and had reported for duty on Friday and stayed up till evening hours.
He described her as professional, hardworking and very committed health official who dedicated her life to saving other people.
The Secretary described her demise as a great loss to the entire hospital.
