Demand more from governors, Gbenga Daniel tells Nigerians

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, ex-Ogun governor

Former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has told Nigerians to demand more developmental projects and justification from their governors and council chairmen over improved monthly allocations from the Federal Government.

Daniel said following the removal of fuel subsidy, allocations to states and councils across the country have increased up to three or four times in some states.

He spoke on Sunday during his BATOGD Movement Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour to the Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state.

Major highlights of the tour include multimillion empowerment program for members of the Senatorial District.

In his address, Daniel said “As you are aware, as a result of the withdrawal of petroleum subsidy, the president has now released a lot of money not just to the states but also directly to the Local Governments.

“As a matter of fact, we are hearing that the release of the allocation to certain states is sometimes up to three times, sometimes up to four times of what they have been receiving.

The President has asked me to tell you to all call your local and state governments to do more and justify the amount that’s being released on monthly basis.”

The former governor said the BATOGD is a grassroots political support base for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

“Some people have asked me, what exactly are the philosophies around this BATOGD Movement and as I always told them that the system of political governance, especially in this our environment is as complex as the economics of survival, this process needs to be carefully explained and distilled down to the people in the simplest of language,” he said.

He applauded Tinubu’s reforms and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, according to him, is built on reform, innovation, and inclusive growth. (Daily Trust)
