The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ndubuisi Nwobu, has described the 2025 governorship ticket of the Labour Party (LP) held by George Moghalu as a tissue paper, saying: “Is that a ticket? Is that one a candidate?”

Nwobu made the statement in Awka while responding to question on why Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 LP Presidential Candidate, is not throwing his weight behind the Coalition party candidate John Nwosu said: “From all indication, he (Peter Obi) is campaigning for the Labour Party candidate (George Moghalu). Is that one a candidate? Does he have a ticket, is that one a ticket?”

He stressed that Moghalu emerged candidate from a primary election conducted by Julius Abure, noting that Supreme Court has said that there is no leadership, and the judgement was delivered a day before the primary election.

Nwobu said: “You can’t stand something on nothing. If you don’t have a leadership, who conducted the primary from where you emerged? I see him running around and campaigning and creating further confusion in the political field. He knows that is not a ticket, he is not a candidate.”

News Express reports that Obi had earlier joined the coalition party to drive his presidential ambition, but at this point, it’s unclear where he stands.

When asked why the big names in ADC have not openly identified with him and his candidate, Nwosu, the Deputy Governorship Candidate insisted that the party was strongly in their support.

“We have held our flag-off campaign, and we have been going around campaigning. What I can tell you is that it may not be convenient for us to take our stakeholders around for things like local government tours.

“For example, if we are going on campaign to Ogbaru, it may be unnecessary to take them along with us, considering the logistics involved, and knowing that the people you are referring to are very busy people”, Nwobu stated.

He further said that the party is planning a round off campaign with all the big names present.
