ADC yet to submit list of state executives to INEC — Abdullahi

The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released and validated a list of State Party Chairmen for the ADC across the country.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, on Sunday debunked the claims, adding that the party has yet to forward such a list to the INEC.

Describing the report as ” fake”, the ADC Spokesman noted that the report is ” obviously engineered by individuals who have shown relentless determination to sow confusion within our party and mislead the public”

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to the best of our knowledge and verification, has issued no such confirmation, neither officially nor unofficially.”

“In this regard, let it be clearly stated that the process of constituting and ratifying state leadership within any political party lies squarely within the party’s constitutional prerogative.

“INEC only recognises what the party submits through the appropriate channels after due process.

” As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted or confirmed by INEC.”

BusinessDay had authoritatively reported last week that the party, which last week received the confirmation of its national officers from the INEC, will now proceed to hold congresses from the 8809 wards, to the zonal levels and constitute officials.

Abdullahi, while speaking to BusinessDay, noted that “now that the party’s National Chairman and Secretary have been recognised by the INEC, the party will now proceed to issue membership cards, duly signed by the appropriate officers, including Chairman and Secretary, after which all the party officials will be constituted from the wards to the zonal levels”

The party’s constitution also mandates the National Secretary to organise the congresses that will be authenticated by INEC as observers.

Before the INEC approvals, the party could not elect legally recognised coordinators from the wards to the zonal levels

The party, therefore, urge its members and stakeholders to remain calm, vigilant, and guided by official communication from the national leadership of the ADC.

“Let us be reminded that the strength of any political movement lies not just in its numbers, but in its discipline, structure, and fidelity to internal democracy.

“The ADC remains committed to these values.”

The party also advised members of the public to ” disregard the fake list in circulation”

” As always, any authentic update regarding party structure will be communicated via our verified channels.” (BusinesDay)
