A bride felt betrayed when her maid of honor abandoned her just days before her wedding and then posted something shocking online.

One of the bridesmaids detailed the conflict in a post on Reddit's "Wedding Drama" forum. She explained how everything "was going pretty smoothly" until the maid of honor "ghosted" the bride just 10 days before her ceremony.

The maid of honor "suddenly stopped responding to messages in the group chat" despite there being no arguments or falling outs within the bridal party. Before the maid of honor went no contact, the bride asked her "to confirm her speech and arrival time for the rehearsal dinner — nothing crazy or last-minute."

"No response. No call. No email," the bridesmaid wrote. "Her read receipts were on, so we know she saw the messages."

The bride began "freaking out," not only because she lost the support of one of her closest girlfriends for no apparent reason, but also because her maid of honor had her wedding veil — and she had no backup.

"We all thought maybe there was an emergency or something serious going on, so we gave her space," the bridesmaid said of the bride and wedding party's reaction to the maid of honor's sudden silence.

Four days after the maid of honor "just disappeared," she posted something shocking on Instagram.

"She’s at a cabin in the mountains. Yoga pose. 'Disconnecting from drama and reconnecting with myself' that was the caption," the Redditor remembered. "A few of us commented like, 'Hey… are you okay??' and she DELETED the comments."

To make matters worse, the maid of honor was at the cabin with the same man she "swore she broke up with months ago," and who had previously disrespected the bride by causing "a huge scene" at her engagement party.

"I’m also just baffled at how someone could ghost their best friend’s wedding a week before and then flex about it like it’s some self-care moment," the bridesmaid said, noting that no one has heard from the maid of honor since and that "she hasn’t even returned the veil."

"Total radio silence. No calls, no texts, no ghostly sightings," she added in a comment.

Fellow Reddit users in the comments section agreed that the situation was baffling. Some people even suggested that the bride "pursue legal action" regarding her veil.

"That's someone else's property. They could get a police escort to retrieve it," one person commented. Another agreed, adding, "Especially with how expensive they can be. Plus, getting another one on short notice isn’t exactly easy."

The bridesmaid responded to a comment suggesting that the bride "call the cops" if the maid of honor doesn't return her veil, writing, "The veil belongs to the bride, and she absolutely has the right to get it back. Once that’s sorted, going no contact seems like the healthiest move for everyone involved." (People, but headline rejigged)
