The Osun Government says the deputy governor of the state, Kola Adewusi, retains his position despite a vote of no confidence passed in him.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ife Federal Constituency in Osun, on Monday, passed a vote of no confidence in Adewusi over alleged anti-party activities.

A vote of no confidence was also passed in Prof. Wale Oladipo, a member of the Board of Trustees of the party.

This is contained in a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Alimi, however, said that the state government reaffirmed its full confidence in Adewusi and Oladipo, describing the recent event at Ife Federal Constituency as a family dispute being resolved by the party leadership.

The commissioner said that the deputy governor, Oladipo, and other leaders of the party involved were deeply loyal and committed stakeholders who could not be involved in any anti-party activities.

“Adewusi and Oladipo remain trusted top state officials who are pillars of grassroots support and pivotal to the progress and sustainability of the administration.

“Be that as it may, the government wishes to use this medium to state without hesitation, in any form whatsoever, that the crisis has not affected the position of Adewusi as the deputy governor.

“He also retains his position as a strong and loyal party man whose integrity and commitment to the present administration are not in doubt.

“By whatever yardstick, the government still reposes strong confidence in him as the second-in-command to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“His position is not in any way affected by the controversy.

“In the same vein, the government wishes to reaffirm its confidence in Prof. Wale Oladipo.

“He retains his position, not only as a member of the PDP Board of Trustees from the state but also his chairmanship position as State University Governing Council Chairman,” he said.

Alimi also said both the deputy governor and Oladipo were in good working relationship with the governor and the PDP-led administration.

“Not for once has the integrity and strong loyalty of the duo been in doubt.

“The government appeals to all party leaders within the federal constituency to sheath their swords and allow the party’s internal mechanism to treat their grievances.

“All issues will be looked into,” he said. (NAN)
