Terhemen was going to the farm with his father at Tse Kyomke Mbapupuub in Gaambe Ushin Council Ward in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State when he was bitten by the snake.
One of the displaced persons, Terna Ibaah, a former camp manager in Agagbe community had on Sunday called for help for the 14 year old whose condition had defied traditional treatment leading to his convulsion.
Ibaah who sent a message to newsmen has stated that the boy was rushed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi on the order of the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency and Management Agency, James Iorpuu on Monday.
He said, “Benue State SEMA Boss Mr Iorpuu James Aondoakaa ordered that the boy who was bitten by snake be taked to Benue State University Teaching Hospitals for treatment but he died yesterday night, September 1, 2025 at the hospital.
Ibaah had also noted that about 12 other displaced persons including the deceased had suffered snake bite in Agagbe camps between January and August ending.
He called on the state government to fumigate their camps and also ensure prompt attendance to victims. (Daily Sun)
