The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has announced the promotion of 375 staff across various cadres in a merit-based exercise.

The promotions, approved by the Acting Executive Chairman, Hon. Kayode Oladele, elevated eight Deputy Directors to the rank of Director, while other staff were advanced to higher grade levels.

The newly promoted directors bring the total number of directors in the commission to 42, with each zone having seven directors.

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, Hon. Oladele reaffirmed the management’s commitment to staff welfare, fairness, and transparent career progression.

While urging the newly promoted staff to view their promotions as a motivation for improved service delivery, he promised to ensure that the number of directors increases, allowing each state to be headed by a director.

He said: “To whom much is given, much is expected; therefore, I want to congratulate all of you and encourage you to always put in your best in ensuring that the commission achieves its constitutional mandate.”

In a statement, the Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Chizea Christopher Chukwudi, stressed that the FCC would sustain a fair and merit-driven promotion system in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is designed to inspire excellence, efficiency, and professionalism in service delivery nationwide.

He added: “The promotion exercise was conducted in strict compliance with the Civil Service established rules and guidelines, and was particularly significant, as it reflected the commission’s unwavering commitment to fairness, meritocracy and organizational efficiency, thereby enhancing staff morale and institutional credibility.” (The Guardian)
