Vice President Kashim Shettima will on Friday, August 22, 2025, lead a high-powered Federal Government delegation to Zuru for the burial of the late Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami, Sami Gomo II.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
He disclosed that the Jana’iza prayer for the revered monarch will be held at the Central Jumaat Mosque, Zuru, immediately after the Friday congregational prayers.
Ahead of the Vice President’s visit, a state delegation led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman, inspected the Zuru Airstrip and other key facilities to assess the level of preparation for the arrival of dignitaries. The team also visited the Central Mosque, which will serve as the venue for the funeral prayer.
According to the statement, the inspection was part of a broader effort by relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate arrangements are in place to receive high-profile personalities expected in Zuru to pay their last respects to the late Emir.
Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami, who until his death was the Emir of Zuru, will be laid to rest tomorrow in accordance with Islamic rites.
