Local vigilantes
Three members of a family were injured on Monday at Gidan Mutum Daya in the Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State when a vigilante’s gun went off and accidentally hit the victims.
According to reports by security expert and counterinsurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama on his X handle (formerly Twitter), revealed that the vigilante, 2a 35-year-old man whose name is Tukur Mustapha, is a member of the area’s security apparatus known as Community Watch Corps.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Murja Lawal, her two-year-old daughter Anisa Lawal, and 26-year-old Abba Lawal. They all sustained injuries to their legs.
The victims were immediately rushed to the Teaching Hospital Katsina, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Mustapha according to reports fled the scene following the unfortunate incident and efforts are ongoing to locate his whereabouts for law enforcement agents to arrest him. (Daily Independent)
