Governor Sani

Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s landslide triumph in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election, describing it as proof of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive and people-centred governance.
INEC declared APC winner of the poll after it polled 34,580 votes, trouncing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which managed 11,491 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) got 3,477 votes, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) recorded only 142 votes.
The ruling party also won the Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly Constituencies, consolidating its hold across Kaduna State.
Maiyaki said the outcome was “historic and symbolic,” noting that Chikun/Kajuru had long been considered an opposition stronghold. He added that the victory showed the people’s growing trust in Governor Uba Sani’s leadership and APC’s policies.
According to him, the landslide win was made possible by the governor’s grassroots-focused approach, which has delivered results in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
“The people of Chikun and Kajuru, as well as Zaria Kewaye and Basawa, have spoken loud and clear. They want progressive leadership, not recycled promises. They trust Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive style,” Maiyaki said.
He stressed that with the latest results, APC has broken new ground and further cemented its dominance in Kaduna politics, positioning the party strongly ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking in a lighter mood, the commissioner said: “Do you want me to also give you a punchy headline alternative in the News Express tabloid style (e.g. “APC Breaks PDP Stronghold in Chikun/Kajuru”) alongside the formal one?”
