Comfort Emmanson
Controversial Ibom Air passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, has dismissed reports that she has already filed a N500 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government, aviation regulators, and other parties, clarifying that while no case has yet been instituted in her name, such action is forthcoming.
In a statement on her Instagram story on Saturday, she stated that a false claim had circulated suggesting she had taken legal steps over the handling of her case and that of musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1).
She explained that although no suit had yet been lodged, she intends to initiate proceedings soon and will announce it officially through her own channels.
Emmanson further stressed that her legal representation is being handled by Adam Atakpa of Kippraise Attorneys and urged the public to disregard the misleading report.
She wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a fake report claiming that I have filed a N500 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government, NCAA, and others.
“This information is false and misleading. I have not taken any such legal action yet.
“When I eventually do anything of such nature(which is imminent) I will personally update the public myself via my official page.
“For the avoidance of doubt my lawyer is Adam Atakpa of Kippraise Attorneys.
“l urge everyone to disregard this fake news and avoid being misled.”
Her clarification follows a separate suit recently filed by public interest lawyer Ayodele Ademiluyi at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The case, demanding N500 billion in damages, was lodged against the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ibom Air, ValueJet, and several other parties.
Ademiluyi, who cited the incidents involving Emmanson and KWAM 1, described the lawsuit as a public interest action to enforce accountability and address systemic failures in the aviation sector. (Saturday Tribune)
