President Tinubu
The Presidency has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will record a significant improvement in the South-East during the 2027 presidential election, projecting that he will secure about two million votes in the region.
Presidential Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, in a recent interview on Channels Television said the administration expects Tinubu to receive four to six times more votes than he garnered in the zone during the last election.
He also noted a shift in the South-South, stating that most governors in the region, regardless of party affiliation, are now supporting the President.
Bwala added that in the North-West, governors have publicly endorsed Tinubu’s policies and pledged their backing, citing the political structures they control as a major advantage for his re-election bid.
He said, “You see the South-East, I guarantee you President Bola Tinubu is going to get more than four times, if not six times, the value of the vote he got. He will get up to two million.”
Speaking on the South-South region, he said, “When you go to the South-South, when President Bola Tinubu came, you know most of the governors were PDP governors, tell me a state in the South-South that is not supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu now? Even the one whose governor said he remained a member of PDP said he endorsed Bola Tinubu.
“Come to the North-West, the governors are coming out, talking about the policies of the President and how they will support him. Are they not the ones with the structure?” (Nigerian Tribune)
