As the re-run election in Anambra State heats up, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a popularity contest over who wins the Saturday, August 16, election in Anambra South senatorial zone and Onitsha II state assembly.
The National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors, Chinedu Obigwe, said the recent statement credited to APC governorship candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu about popularity in the state was a mere political statement to deceive the people.
Obigwe said, “In my reaction, I will state without mincing words that Ukachukwu is dwelling in self-deceit. He knows very well that APC is not in existence in Anambra and that he does not have the required electoral value to give APC victory in any election in Anambra.
“The only thing Ukachukwu knows how to do is rigging, and as APGA is planning to win the votes of Anambra electorate in the forthcoming August 16th bye-election and November 8th governorship election, he is busy planning how to rig the election.
“This is a man that has never won any election in Anambra State since he started contesting elections in the state. He was the APGA senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the last 2023 general election, and he lost the election woefully to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of blessed memory.
“He manufactured results in Osumenyi, smuggled them into the local government collation centre, and even as the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah dashed him the Osumenyi manufactured results, he still defeated him with a wide margin in that election.
“One thing about Ukachukwu is that when talking to Anambra people, he always forgets that he is not talking to strangers but people that know him very well and have rejected him in many elections in the state.
“Whatever evil plan they want to perfect in the state on August 16th and November 8th will be vehemently resisted by the vigilant electorate of the state.
“Anambra is APGA land, and the people of the state will continue voting for APGA candidates in any election because they have justified the confidence reposed in the party.” (Sunday Sun)
