Ex-Deputy Governor Ude Oko-Chukwu
The immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Ude Oko-Chukwu, has resigned as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a letter signed by the former deputy governor and addressed to the PDP chairman, Ndi Elu ward Nkporo Ohafia Local Government Area, which was sighted by our correspondent on Friday, Oko-Chukwu stated that his resignation was for personal reasons.
Although the former deputy governor did not give any hint about his next political move, he however, noted that the decision to leave the party was a difficult one for him to make, adding that it was the best course of action for him.
The letter read In part, “You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons, while it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time.
“I am grateful for the opportunity the party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the party.
“Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter even as I wish you the best for the future.”
Oko-Chukwu who is also a former speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly also contested for tickets of PDP ticket for the 2023 governorship election in the state but lost to Chief Okey Ahaiwe.
It was observed that the letter was equally received and signed by one Ama Nwoke Ibe on behalf of PDP Ndi Elu ward Nkporo. (The PUNCH)
