Nyesom Wike, PDP Chieftain
The South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) will review the activities of the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and take a decision next week.
In a television interview yesterday, Ogidi said the party was fed up with Wike’s activities and was ready to make a decision about him.
Recall that the minister in a television interview on Monday, gave the party’s leadership conditions for peace to reign. Wike said the South-South zonal congress conducted by his faction and rejected must be recognised by the party.
He also said that the party must reject the South East zonal congress that produced Ali Odefa and others as leaders for peace to reign before the convention.
“Well, it is over for now but there are still some things remaining which I have told them they must do. One is our South-South zonal congress, which we must uphold. There are no two ways about it.
“During our South-South zonal congress, the acting national chairman claimed that the PDP governors were not in support of the congress. Where are the PDP governors today?
“Our congress was held in Calabar, and there is nothing anybody can tell us. If they want another round of crisis, so be it. That congress must be. Chief Dan Orbih emerged as national vice chairman,” he said.
But reacting, Ogidi said, “PDP is a big family, but I can tell you the NWC will take action on Wike next week, because you cannot serve two masters. I don’t know why the APC is tolerating him, because he is also doing damage to them with his utterances.
“We have been restraining ourselves, there is no crisis, there are only two legs left – NEC this month and convention. Even if he is starting another crisis, he is on his own but I appreciate his frustration.
“He is doing the agenda of the APC, but we have been tolerating him because of his past record. He was very good before now, he did a lot. But others have also done so. He has gone too far. I have been managing myself, I don’t want to be emotional, but at times, it is good to say it as it is,” he said. (Daily Trust)
