By PAMELA EBOH, Awka

Indigenes of Amalekwune Ameka Community, in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, resident in Awka, Anambra State, have expressed their gratitude to the State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for appointing two of their people to key positions in his administration.

Mr. Nweke Nweke, a journalist, was recently appointed spokesperson for the state’s security outfit, Agunechemba, while High Chief Monday Nwokoye was appointed Head of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA).

The Ebonyi natives praised the governor for demonstrating true nationalism by appointing two of their sons into key positions.

According to the community, Soludo has proven his commitment to merit-based governance, prioritizing competence and qualifications over political affiliation or state of origin.

In recognition of this gesture, the community pledged to mobilize over one million Ebonyi indigenes living in Anambra State to vote for the governor in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The appointment of Comrade Nweke Nweke was formally acknowledged during the Amalekwune community’s New Yam Festival celebration held at Agulu Town Hall, Fegge, Onitsha, over the weekend.

They also hailed the Governor for entrusting High Chief Monday Nwokoye with the leadership of SASA.

At the meeting, the leader of the town union, Onitsha branch, Comrade Naza Moses, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Soludo for his inclusive governance and compassionate treatment of Ebonyi residents.

He said that the governor’s actions underscore his benevolence and commitment to fairness, irrespective of state of origin.

Moses assured the gathering that those appointees from Ebonyi State would perform their duties diligently and honourably.

He reiterated the community’s intention to rally massive support for Governor Soludo’s re-election bid, scheduled for November 8, saying: “Our aim is to deliver approximately one million votes for the governor as a sign of our appreciation for his support to our people and our state. Only God can reward Governor Soludo for recognizing the value of our people. We pledge that our members will remain responsible citizens. Our heartfelt thanks go to His Excellency.”

Meanwhile, Nweke has expressed his profound joy at being given the opportunity to serve.

He extended special thanks to Chief Kenneth Emeakayi, whom he described as a mentor and a leader, pledging to carry out his responsibilities with humility, professionalism, and a deep sense of duty to justify the trust placed in him.
