A regional good governance advocacy group, the Coalition of Arewa Civil Society Groups, has described the late president, Muhammadu Buhari as a selfless leader who meant well for the country.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano, yesterday, Monday, July 14, 2025, the secretary of the group, Comrade Auwal Shuaibu, described late former president as a phenomenon, a selfless leader, and a patriot who was passionate about the country and has spent better part of his life serving it.

He said: “Buhari represents what good leadership should be, despite his shortcomings. He was dedicated to bring about a revolutionary change in governance space. Through new and innovative policies, he had the desire to see a peaceful and prosperous country where everything would work”.

Speaking earlier, the National Chairman and Coordinator of the group, Amb. Abdullahi Muhammad, said: “The late President Muhammadu Buhari was a movement. He was an institution which embodies simplicity, incorruptibility, empathy and honesty. He had a vision of building not only a resilient country, but also dignified nation that could stand firmly on her feet. He had his moment. He did his best. As a mortal, he was not flawless. He had his flaws. But the good thing is, he left a legacy of integrity, honesty and transparency”.

“As a principle, in life, you must not be loved by all. Regardless of what others think, feel or say, Buhari lived a life full of principle in service to the country, which he did to the best of his ability. We pray for Allah to continue to bless his soul, and grant him Jannah,” Amb. Muhammad added.
