Anambra 2025 Guber: ADC candidate Nwosu beats APGA, pays mandatory N50m for political campaigns, billboard adverts, others

Nwosu's certificate of payment

By PAMELA EBOH, Awka

The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in the company of the John Nwosu Campaign Organisation, on Thursday, paid in full the assessed mandatory Fifty Million Naira required of Governorship candidates and Parties to enable them display political campaign advertisements and materials in Anambra State.

The CEO and other representatives of Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) were on hand to meet the representatives of the John C. Nwosu Campaign Organisation and the ADC to acknowledge the receipt for the payment and issue a receipt and certificate accordingly.

ADC is the second party to comply fully with the existing permit requirement after the Young Progressives Party which met the payment demand six days ago.

Nwosu however cited that the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Soludo and his running mate, who represent the ruling party in the state and are enforcing the law, are yet to comply with their own laws.

He described such anomaly as a failure to lead by example on one hand, and a tendency to make Anambra State IGR generation punitive on the other hand.

"The political campaign advertisement levy, even with the best of intentions does not avail candidates a level playing field. It is also meant to abridge free speech by executive fiat.

"If by God's grace I become the governor, such prohibitive laws will be amended with a view to having fair electoral practices, playing level field and political space that does not confer undue advantage to the incumbent governor or office holder", the ADC candidate added.
