PDP and INEC leaders during a meeting on Tuesday Xinecnigeria
The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party on Tuesday met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission behind in Abuja.
Although the details of the meeting are still sketchy, our Correspondent learnt that they may likely discuss the internal crisis in the PDP over the position of its National Secretary.
Both INEC and the PDP are on different lanes on the position of the party that allows the Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshendo to sign documents/correspondences for the PDP, pending the resolution of the issues.
When the PDP sent a notice of its plan to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to INEC, the commission flatly declined and wrote the party explaining why it cannot honour the notice.
The commission cited the internal crisis surrounding the position of National Secretary.
On Tuesday at the meeting the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, referred to this to this, as he informs the PDP leaders about the inconsistencies that the crisis has generated.
The PDP leaders in attendance include its acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagun; former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo). (AriseNews TV)
